The wettest winter on record
The record number of rain events over winter 2022 hit our regions, employers & growers particularly hard. With little time to dry out between down pours, even the most well thought out workplans went out the window.
Work delays, COVID, colds and a tightening Labor Market continue to constrict employers productivity and impact long term planning. The national unemployment rate dropped, with some regions underutilization rate also reducing. What does that mean for employers needing to increase their workforce, and what help is available?
It was heart breaking to hear serious allegations of migrant worker exploitation in the media last month. We’ll look at what NZEE members are doing to set and maintain high employment standards for the benefit of workers and their families.
