July 2024 Newsletter
Last month we were delighted to welcome Kerri Ahomiro as our new Executive Officer, who is now managing the day-to-day operations of NZEE. Many of you may know Kerri from her role as the Primary RSE Labour Inspector with MBIE. She brings extensive knowledge of employment compliance, deep experience in our sectors, and a strong understanding of running small and medium primary industry businesses in our regions.
Our recent NZEE conference in Napier was a tremendous success, with over 150 attendees and a dynamic lineup of presenters covering workforce development, sustainability, human rights implementation, leadership, and more. The conference emphasised the message, "Don't let the pursuit of perfection hinder progress; focus on continuous improvement along the way."
At our AGM, following our conference, I was honored to be voted in as Deputy Chair and will continue to support NZEE's governance alongside our Chair, Mike Chapman, and the board. We welcomed in new board member Deane Caughey from Thornhill and said thank you to outgoing board members Nick Bibby and Lewis Ellis.
Additionally, to Deputy Chair, I will serve as the Human Rights Lead for NZEE, creating content and resources for our members in collaboration with our Human Rights Foundation Partners, Tūhana Business and Human Rights, specifically Brent Wilton and David Rutherford.
As I step down from my role as CEO on July 4th, I want to express my sincere thanks for your support, encouragement and friendship. It has been an absolute privilege to lead NZEE, and I look forward to continuing to contribute in my new roles.
NZEE Conference 2025 will be held in Blenheim, 5 June 2025 – save the date
